Private Warehousing

A type of warehouse that is owned and operated on a long-term lease basis by the company using the space. There are three different types of warehouses: private, public, and contract. Private warehouses are operated by the company that owns the products coming into and leaving the warehouse. The same company may or may not own the building, but are the only company to conduct their business there. In contrast public warehouses typically have multiple customers at once, and contract warehouses, which rely on a third-party logistics firm to negotiate long-term contractual arrangement with a limited set of companies.
