Electronic Data Exchange

Used mostly between businesses, electronic data exchange is a transmission of data that is strictly from one computer system to another. When the information is sent between the computers, it is usually coded in a format not intended for human interface and rarely is there any human intervention in the exchange (unless there is an error in the transaction). While there are numerous ways that the files can be sent, most businesses use Internet protocols, such as AS2, to help ensure security.
