Contingent Worker

A temporary or part-time worker. Contingent workers can also be called temporary workers, \"temps,\" independent contractors, freelancers, contract workers, and/or consultants. These workers work for a business or company on a strictly temporary basis. Contingent workers may be hired under a contract to accomplish a specific task or project, work on for commission, or be paid an hourly wage for a seasonal job. Contingent workers are often managed under a system called Contingent Workforce Management (CWM), the strategy of which is to reduce the company\'s cost in the management of its contingent employees and mitigate the risks a company endures when employing a contingent worker.
